Similar engine, weight and gearbox to a 40k Amarok. How much are these 4cyl D5?

What has the engine, weight and gearbox in an Amarok got to do with a D5? Engine size and number of gears has got nothing to do with the cost of a vehicle and comparing a very large high tech wagon with a leaf sprung ute is like comparing apples with oranges, regardless of engines and gearboxes.
I think you are trying to say that the D5 is not good value compared with a ute, which may be correct. However, if you want a large 4x4 wagon then the good value of a ute is irrelevant.
Rammy, I think you might have taken a wrong turn on the internet somewhere, The Amarok loving forum is not here. As us Land Rover folk are a friendly bunch and like to be as helpful as we can, here's the link to get you unlost and back to the place you really want to be:

I am sure they will be very happy to hear your musings on how fantastic your Rok is (and we all agree it is) and how crap the D5 is not to mention all its predecessors with independent air suspension and scary electronics that are not real 4WD's.
I thought an Amarok might be a sensible, good value alternative to a Defender. I tried it. I was wrong. IMO it just wasn't as good, in so many ways. I sold the Amarok and bought a Defender.
All i am saying is, i was surprised that they would put such a small engine in it. How many D4 owners are cringing at the thought of 'upgrading'? Compare the idle torque of the 3.0L tt vs the 2.0L tt, the torque-to-weight at gvm, and what about longevity?
I guess its kinda like an S Class Merc with a 3.0L engine, when there are also 4, 5 and 6 litre versions available.
Yeah but around 400kg’s lighter. If they put the TD or SD4 in the D4, yeah nah!!
Performance wise, the SD4 is quicker than the SDV6 in the D4.
Well get the TD6! There are options. If you feel the 4 isn’t torquey enough. For my use and coming from a TD5 with 300nm, the 4 would suit me and a lot of people, if your towing a tandem trailer or whatever get the larger engine.
