Has anyone successfully installed a brake controller on a D5? I have tried everything I can think of to get a Towpro Elite working. The grey plug under the steering column has five wires. Does anyone know what to do with the fifth wire?

Thanks, I read that thread but it doesn't shed light on anything. Just discusses where a plug may be bought. I chopped my socket off and hard wired the controller to the bare wires. Doesn't work and there is one spare wire. I'm trying to find out where that wire goes. It may be all I need to get it going.

it has the wiring for both the vehicle and the plug... that should help.
I wired it the same as that diagram, leaving the spare wire unattached. The towpro gave all the right indications, but no braking. I then abandoned the plug idea and installed the device behind the jack. Connections were then made directly to the battery (through a circuit breaker), to the closest earth point, and then the controller output and brake light wires were connected into the trailer wiring loom (under the rear floor). Still no brakes.
I have tried two towpro's and two different trailers.
If I use a test lead with an incandescent bulb between earth and pin 5 of the trailer socket I seem to get all the right readings - at least as far as my limited knowledge can tell me. There is voltage on the brake light circuit when I depress the brakes. There is a voltage on pin 5 when I press the brake, and it varies as I turn the controller knob. When I hook up a trailer - nothing.
I have tried to get the local Landrover dealer to help, but they wont return my calls despite having just given them $140000 for the car. I havent found any local auto electricians even willing to look at the install.
Have you set the Tow-Pro to calibration mode? It isn't normally required if the wiring is correct first attempt as it is already in calibration mode but if it thinks it has calibrated then force a new calibration.

Does the trailer have LED lights or bulbs?
LED lights on the trailer were an issue on earlier D4 models but i thought it was sorted on the later models,and i presumed sorted on the D5.
If you still have issues,i know an auto leccy,but they are at Kedron,have done a heap of D3/4,so they may be able to help.
I doubt they have done a D5,but as they are familiar with LR products,will probably have an idea.

Thanks. I will have one more attempt myself. I'll start from scratch. Perhaps I have made the same mistake over and over ...
Does anyone know where the fuse is on the D5, that runs the constant 12 volts to the pre-wired loom for the trailer brakes? (The plug above the brake pedal).
