    Viscous Fan?

Does the D5 have a viscous fan?

None of the D5 people are replying but as far as I know it has variable speed electric fans, like the L405. This fan system works brilliantly on the L405 and I assume the D5 will be the same.

On my D4 and my son's D3 the temperature rises to 100 before the fans slowly starts cutting in and is only fully locked at 108 degrees (which is when you can hear it working). Monitoring the L405 with the GAP 11D shows that the temperature stays much more constant (not more than 90) with less fan noise with the new electric system. The transmission also runs much cooler when towing than the D4, probably because the coolant is cooler after passing through the radiator.

Possibly the D5 people haven't looked under the bonnet!

I've only had it a few days, but the fan is definitely electric on the SD4
