That's good news, it means they are designing the cars with that capability in mind. Unless...there were issues with it and that being why LR haven't released the parts for sale. Who knows?

And if a winch can be mounted then surely a bar can too - full replacement type.

    Hi Tony

Sorry for late reply. We’ve been travelling.

The short answer is not yet. Lucky 8 have been great, lots of communication. There may be an issue as some NAS spec’d D5’s have a condenser of some sort where the winch goes and their mount can’t be used - ?the V8 petrol spec. They have done a diesel or two and no problems. They obviously haven’t done a 2019 build either. I have to wait until my D5 is delivered and send them a photo from underneath. They will confirm whether it can be used. If so, it will cost about $1100-$1200 landed - plus GST I suppose. The mount plate is all predrilled, galvanised and powder coated with all new fitting hardware. It’s a simple fit - remove front bar, remove bolts, bolt plate on, wire up and replace bumper.

I have sent them the spec’s of the Adventure Kings Dominator and they have confirmed that it will fit as well. They connect their winch, a Warn Zeno, directly to the under-bonnet terminals. There’s no issues with the CAN bus.

If if all goes well, I’ll have a hidden winch for under $2k

    Cheers, Rob

Great work please keep us all up to date as I am holding off on replacing the D4 until I am confident our next 4WD can have a winch fitted. I suspect the Oz market size is of no interest to the after market folk but maybe that will change as more D5 are about and being used for outback travel.

We need to be self recoverable with the Q+ on the back so 12,500lb is what we need.

Time is on my side fortunately but I am not holding out much hope that the new defer will actually be available with any recovery kit ATM but once again we don't really know until they are on the market and given the USA is such a target market I am hoping a winch/snorkel etc will be factory options

I don’t think you need a snorkel with the D5 Roba, given the intake system and 900 fording capability. But the winch would be handy.

Tony thanks yes well aware of the updated fording depth. We don't use one on the D4 either for that reason. Albeit always try and keep away from deep water and mud. The latter shreds disc brake items and the former well I just use a bonnet bra if required and after doing some deepish stuff in the Kimberly a couple of years back the D4 did it easy. But I never get complacent when it comes to the risks. Classic example is getting belly bogged with the Q+ on the back in the biggest bull-dust quarry I have ever seen on our way out of Chambers Pillar last year. The winch was working very hard with a 2500kg camper and 2500kg car hooked up together but we only needed 3m of distance to get out of trouble. The kick in that is there wasn't a tree within 300m so we used an LC200 to winch off.

Life gets like that when you travel off bitumen

Even if there was a solution for a discrete winch mount available, what are the legalities of it?
