Attached the awning today.
I took off the part of the Thule Wingbar end caps that swivels up to get the awning closer to the car, also drilled an extra hole in the part of the end cap still on the car to allow the bolts that attach the awning to the brackets to slot into the end cap and so get the awning as close as possible to the cross bars.
When I take the awning off, I can put the swivel parts of the end caps back on so you won’t see the holes I drilled.
The second photo is from the rear with the boot open showing clearance between the awning and the boot and spoiler.

The Thule bars came with foot pack #4080. On the inside of the roof rail the foot sits against the roof rail, on the outside of the rail it holds on to the lip in the rail. You can position them anywhere on the LR flush roof bars.

Does anyone know if there’s a crossbar you can fit without roof rails?
Thanks, everyone. I fired a few emails to roof rack companies (inc Rhino) and I’ll wait to see what they tell me. An option seems to be to get the flush rails, but that’ll be a bit more expensive
