    DUAL BATTERY SET UP

I'm interested to know or see what others have done to set up a dual battery system in the D5.
I get the impression that not many are taking D5 off road like they did the D4 since the forum seems to lack this info compared to when I set up D4 in 2010.
ARB have nothing listed. Piranha haven't done one yet. Similarly for UHF aerial mounts.
Thanks - keen to get it done.

Hi aox, I make 3 D5 kits and they are simple to fit.

Do you have a 5 or 7 seater D5, different kits for the different models.

BTW, you do not need a DC/DC device, your alternator will do a better job.

Hi again xoa, the link below will give you the basics for my D5 kit, which includes the isolator and all cabling is pre-assembled, making the kit a Plug-N-Play install.

You will need to setup your own battery mount as there are a number of way to do it.

While the webpage has been up for a long time, it is still not finished, and if you would like more detailed information about this kit, phone me day or evening.

NOTE, like with other Land Rover models, because of the way my isolators work, you will have a much longer operating time between charges than any other DBS available for Discovery 5s.

So what are people doing with their 5-seater D5's? I'm just about to order a D5 to replace my D4 (selling the Traxide kit I had in it), so will most likely go Traxide again.

Does anyone have the dimensions of the space under the rear floor? Is there enough height to install a regular sized battery (even on its side?)

Will be setting up to tow, so Anderson plug out the rear. I'll be attempting to put a fridge slide in there as well, possibly as part of a drawer setup.

    Thanks in advance

If I get a chance will do it today as this is where I will be fitting mine there is a foam type padding not sure how thick that is but when I did look thought it would be possible or as an option put in 2 smaller batteries connect in parallel. but could be some reason that this is not possible maybe CC rating etc.

If you go for drawers, you could order a shorter drawer, leaving a space behind in which to hide a battery. I did this with the Off Road Systems drawer in our Defender. Fitted a sealed AGM on its side connected via a Traxide to the starter battery. Works perfectly.

Lee removed the 3rd row seats and has 2 batteries, inverter and isolator mounted in the space.
