Can't compare the seats.
More headroom in the D5's second row seats than in the RRS, I think. Also more luggage space.
Hi everyone
I'm a newbie here so be gentle...
Looking at D5 vs a RRS. My dealer has priced up a HSE D5 and a RRS SE with a broadly similar spec for about $130k.
I like the D5 (better engine 225kw vs 177kw and more capable 4wd with slightly more tech) but my wife says that she thinks the second row seats are horrible in the D5.
Interested in any existing owners views on the second row seats in the D5 vs the RRS. Certainly they look harder and flatter but they also look lower with less support. Wondering if they are any good for long trips??
I suspect this has been discussed before but I just couldn't find it using the forum search tools.
Thanks in advance.

I only sit in the front so don’t care about row 2! I have actually sat there a couple of times and thought it was fine.

Thanks guys
When we looking to buy a couple of years ago.... we sat in both RRS and D5. D5 second row seats seemed awful to us - too low, not enough length in the base, too hard. My wife did not like them. That being said, after we bought the RRS, and even though the RRS front seats are a little softer than the D5 front seats, we still had the RRS front seats' padding increased to make them softer and reduce the effect of the side bolsters.
I suppose we could have bought some cushions for the D5 rear seats.
Would be interesting to get somebody's opinion of new Defender 2nd row seats.

Does anyone know how the RRS or D5 compares to the D4 in terms or second row space?
the issue I find in the D4 is we have a baby seat behind the front passenger seat so to allow enough room not to squish our two year olds legs the front seat cannot be all the way back or reclined too far which means on the odd occasions I can convince my partner to do some of the driving I find myself a bit squished and wishing I had more leg room.
I presume this is because although the car is big it’s got seven seats so perhaps not a spacious as a similar sized 5 seater? Close to being a deal breaker on a new discovery if the issue remains - I’m 6’1
Here are some numbers for D4 and L405 from some brochures. D5 and RRS legroom numbers are not published in the brochures. If I can figure out how they do the measurement I will measure my RSS and report. Anyone with D5 care to do similar?

I have the D5. I can confirm there is less leg support for adults on the D5 2nd row seat because of the (lower) height difference between the floor and your bum and also the angle of the seat is not as steep as that of the RRS. I did find this interesting solution though but haven't tried it myself which would seem to address this:

Looks interesting..... When you then fold the seats forward I would imagine that there would be a height difference between the seats and the cargo floor... I wonder if they also make a false floor for the cargo area? Also the inserts look slightly wedge shaped, so when the seats are folded , they would not lie flat but on a slight incline. Still, the fact that somebody has gone to the trouble of producing these indicates that many others have also noticed there is an issue with the 2nd row seats in the D5.
