Oops car going to be out of action for a bit.

When I was up in Brisbane had the misfortune of having somebody back into my car, seen it happen and he was insured. But back quarter panel and door will have to be replaced, the back panel is a lot of work and most of the interior has to come out.

On a side note the there was a leak up the top near drivers sunshade noticed this when water started dripping on my hand, this requires a new windscreen apparently waiting to here back but may get this done when it is in the panel beaters for 3 to 4 weeks.

Ouch! Not sure if it's good to see it happen or not (assuming they don't do a runner).

I was working on my house up it Brisbane replacing balcony poles out front a mate was giving me a hand, thought I heard something then seen this ute parallel parked really close, it was when he got out I knew that it was a hit, he was doing the gardens across the road, the plus side is the taillight was not broken this would have required a hire car to get my trailer and tools back to Sydney.

For those of us that do use the D5 off road or maybe even towing just check the lining along top of windscreen for any dampness apparently the leakage can be caused by body flex and the factory sealant is not sufficient to handle this, at least it is under warranty.

On the plus side it tows a heavy load no problems passed a few Toyota Landcruiser's while going uphill with the trailer on the back.

Well got the car back after a month, not much change from $25K, one slight blemish they still have to fix this is where the air bag sticker goes

    Bloody hell
What happens in 5 years when the shiny D5 is worth $35k
And a scratch on two panels costs 2/3 of that to repair

    It will be written off

    Bloody ridiculous

Although it’s hard to see full extent of damage, that price seems excessive.

It would be good to see the invoice, was it the parts,or labour?

We recently had a full new side panel fitted to one of our vans, including front door on that side repaired, and roof repaired, all repainted,$6K.

Good Lord, 25K to fix a "Scratch"
Luckily no "Real" damage was done
Its the first time I have heard of "Body flex" causing the windscreen to leak, This doesn't bode well for the new defender/discovery .

Some of the expense problem seems to be with the replacement parts. When I had my RRS repaired, the repairer explained that they had to get their parts from LR Aust ; so for instance a headlight that I could have sourced new for 'only' $1600 cost the repairer over $4k.
