A full set of headlights (left and right) for a 79 series will cost a whopping $300=$400

But they are like candles compared to the lights on a late model LR

No wonder the insurance premiums for 'Premium European vehicles' are expensive.

Edit, the lights on the D4 are so good,i can drive 6.5 hours to the property in Western Qld,leaving after work at around 4.00PM,no spotlights needed.

the rear quarter panel was cut out and a new one welded in, all of the interior comes out also it was a new door too, the photo does not really show the damage as the wheel arch was creased along with frame of door it still opened and shut fine, did not try the window though.

If it was the D2 would have kept driving it with the damage because labour alone would have written that off.
disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
detriot locker, lsd front,C.D.L kit, chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift, rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.

I know of a 79 Series which has cost $300,000 so far..... Portal Axles, 40" wheels, custom aluminium canopy, matt black paint job, etc. All engineered.

And it is still a truck.

    Cheers

I have a D2a that i bought second hand for 10k and have spent about 15k on it since then so after 25k being spent I can reasonably expect about 5-7k if I was to sell it.
I bought my 79 series a couple of years ago for 30k and have spent $460 on a new alternator so all up $30,460 and I can reasonably expect about $30,000 if I was to sell it.

What do you need to do to spend $15 k?

    That's impressive.

New head gaskets, lifters, leads and coil packs, new power steering pump, reconditioned transfer case, replaced rear diff. new radiator hoses and water pump, new guts for the fan, ARB Bullbar, 12000lb winch, new alternator and battery, new slotted rotors and pads and god only knows what else I have had to replace including2 sets of tyres and a couple of windscreens.
15K doesn't go far when you get everything done by experienced and reliable workshops.
At least NOW I have a Very reliable D2a that I have absolute confidence in to take anywhere
And NO I am not selling it and most likely never will
