    Some more info

Here is some updates and info in case somebody is looking at this thread.
I managed to get a UIP_HiGH_LINE with cabling. The needed cable is part of a cable harness with the number HY32-14B042.

    JLR Cable Harness.jpg

I stripped the cable form the harness that connects the UIP_HIGH_LINE with the ICTP Main unit and it is marked with HY32-LBCA-BD. But I do not know if you can get that from your JLR dealer.

    JLR Cable.jpg

To install the cable you need to remove the floor console upper section and install the HIGH_LINE_UIP. The cable then connects to the ICTP Main Unit that is installed under the Driver's Seat (at least on left hand drive). The floor console upper section is quite easy to remove if you what to do. Details can be found in the workshop manual in chapter 501-12. You will find that in TOPIX or with some luck Google might bee your friend. I also removed the power pins (see Cambo's post) from my old cable harness and connected them to the in car harness.

I guess the HIGH_LINE_UIP to ICTP cable mentioned in Jag Forum from my earlier post will also work and you can get definitely this from your JLR Dealer, but the cable is quite expensive.

Next is installing the software update which i did not get to yet.

    Audio panel replacement

I currently have a vehicle with the mid level audio panel (HDMI, 2 USB, No Sim)

The previous owner has broken one of the USB ports so I've just bought a replacement panel however the only one I could find was a high level (HDMI, 2 USB and sim slot)

Is this compatible? And will having the sim card present activate the cars sim features?

Knowing modern car makers, I'm highly doubting sim functionality is "Plug and Play" but as long as the HDMI and USB's work I'll be happy

While it is now included as standard, the early build D5's did not have it, and as it turns out the dealers are not able to activate it in all of the existing cars.

    Basically you need;

InControl Touch Pro, widescreen version, with the Mid or High level multimedia panel

That means, in addition to the two USB sockets in the centre armrest, you also need to have an HDMI socket, and/or a SIM card socket.

If you have a SIM and/or HDMI socket there, the dealers are now offering free-of-charge software updates to activate the Smartphone Pack, which gives you Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

If you don't have a SIM or HDMI socket, the hardware is not compatible for the full Smartphone Pack, so you will be told "sorry, can't do it"

    But, all is not lost!

There are a couple of options here to get the factory Apple CarPlay and Android Auto working in these models that only have the two USB sockets, currently the dealers aren't able to do this, but we can

#1 for both Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, we have retrofitted the high-spec panel & missing wiring, and enabled the Smartphone Pack, with a modified CCF.

Here in a 2017 Discovery 5, that was built with only the two USB's

#2 if you only want Android Auto (without Apple CarPlay) then it's possible to get it working with just the standard panel, with just a modified CCF, no hardware changes.

#3 if you have the InControl Touch Pro, without the widescreen, it's possible to enable both Apple CarPlay & Android Auto (with swapping the panel) or just Android Auto with the standard panel.

If you have the InControl Touch system (not Pro) then there is no factory solution for those, but there are some aftermarket solutions for Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, using the existing screen, or by replacing the screen completely.
I just bought the hardware with HDMI and SIM port. I think I still need to buy the cable and upload software. I really need CarPlay for my Velar L560
Can you instruct me and sell me all the parts I need? I’m in Vietnam. Thank you

Anyone in Perth able to do any of this?
Buying a 2017 HSE. and only has the low panel with 2x USB

Would like android auto, so a modified CCF would do.

But if SIM will work with the full mod. Would like to go that way.

    Hi.

Anyone know if there is a supplier / distributer for this on the Gold Coast? are you looking for a distributer? or is it possible to get the parts sent up with detailed instructions? I have a 2017 Discover 5 with low line UIP.

    TIA Simon

    Question

    Hello, everyone
    Thanks for useful info!
I have mid-level panel with SIM in my Discovery 5 MY20 and i have second row screens with 2 hdmi's there. i connected android tv box and it perfectly work on both rear screens, but i haven't got hdmi as source on main screen...
Can i install hi-level panel with hdmi and sim? Does it need extra wiring? will i be able to see same picture on all 3 screens after connecting tv box to it? I need it to turn on cartoons for my kids without going to the second row seats =)

Contact in Europe ? France ?

Hello everybody. I just bought a RRE HSE from 2018 but as a lot of people i have the low iup line :/
Is there someone in Europe who can help me ?
I would like to have Android auto and Apple Carplay changing the module part.
But if it's easier to get only Android auto with only cff config it could be enough..

Thanks for reply, i hope so !
