    Advanced Tow Assist

I had a good play with the Advanced Tow Assist recently. I was at a mate's place where he has a huge area of grass so I could give it a good run.

One word of advice - reversing for half an hour with a 1.5 tonne trailer attached in 40 degree heat is not a good idea..... I got the "Gearbox Overheating" warning and limp mode. Then it occurred to me that there is NO airflow over the cooling units when reversing. Oops!

Anyway, Advance Tow Assist works brilliantly. I reversed in a large circle - about 50 metres diameter - and left just two tyre tracks for the entire circle. All three wheels followed exactly the same circle. It takes a little getting used to, steering from the Terrain assist knob, but it worked really well. A mate is a Jedi Knight at reversing was really impressed by it.

Only thing, the screen showed the normal reverse camera view. Every video I have seen shows the view from the two side cameras, looking back down the side of the car. Not sure why mine was different. Am I supposed to change a setting somewhere?

    Cheers

PS I find it ridiculous - and very Land Rover - that you actually have to buy the target sticker required for the expensive option to work rather that get one with it. Seriously??? The sticker can be a bit hard to attach to a trailer, too, if it doesn't happen to have a convenient vertical surface for attachment in the target zone.

with my stickers I stuck them on a bit of Perspex with very strong magnets so can move from trailer to trailer, I have 3 different ones.

The trailers I tow the most do not have a vertical surface on the front. I have found an edge on a fibre glass panel I can attach it to with a couple og bulldog clips, but it is just within the required zone. Everything below that is vinyl at a shallow angle.
