    D5 with drop down tailgate?

I’m considering moving from the D4 to the D5, one thing I really (really!) don’t want to live without is the ability to sit on the tailgate.

does anyone know which models this comes on? I want to narrow my search field to these only.
    otherwise, can it be retrofitted?

I was really hoping the new defender had one,but no

I understand you wanting one,it’s a fantastic feature that we love as well.

Another brand has a couple of wagons that have them, that’s all I know.

Possibly some of the RR models, but they are not what we want.

Isn't there a flap just inside the tailgate that can be folded out and sat on?

I have a D5 HSE which has the internal fold down tailgate thing.

    Rated to 250kg from memory.

I use it everyday to sit on while i put on my boots before entering site.

If it is raining the overhead tailgate protects me from the rain.

Thought i would miss the tailgate in my D4 but for my use the D5 is better (that will set the cats among the pigeons).

The other advantage is that i can reach into the cargo area.
    Cheers

It’s one of the features that keeps me going back to a L405.

Might suit some, but still no where near as versatile as a tailgate such as the D4 set up.

    Each to their own.

is it an option or does it come standard on the HSE? Lots of the cars for sale don’t appear to have it

Isn’t there an irony in this thread.
When the D3 first arrived with the drop down tailgate people were up in arms at losing the simplicity of the single side opening door!

Haha that doesn’t surprise me, people resist change!

I’m very fond of the ability to sit on the back. I’d suggest I use it almost daily as I’m currently on an eight month trip. Perfect for the arvo cheese board while parked on the beach or for putting shoes on the little one
