    Advice required

    Hi Everyone,

Own a D5 2017 TD4. Currently hitting the 60,000km on the odometer. Extended manufacturer warranty just lapsed. JLR doesn't seem to offer any extended manufacturer warranty past 5yrs.

    Question:
    - with 60k done, what are the next few big items requiring change which is covered by 3rd party warranty?
    - Reading from previous threads, assuming suspensions/bushing? are next inline?

    Separate issues:
    1) After replacing engine mounts, there seems to be a lot of creaking noise coming from the car chassis. It is very apparent when doing 180 degree turns slowly. Any advise/recommendation here?

    2) Twirling noise from the back of the car.
This twirling noise was significantly reduced after JLR replaced the engine mounts. However, with brakes applied, and drive mode selected, there is still a slight twirling noise coming from the back of the car. How can I narrow down the possibilities of what's causing this noise?

    Thanks in advance.

Your car is getting to an age where rubber parts are starting to degrade - keep an eye on those bushes, particularly front lower control arms.

Especially with the 4cyl cars, keep on top of your oil changes - preferably even change a bit early.

Provided you've not done a lot of towing / heavy abusive driving, you probably don't need a gearbox service yet, but worth changing out differential & transfer case fluids now. Replacing the centre differential / transfer case fluid in particular can solve mild juddering / grabby feelings you get while turning under acceleration.

Do you know if replacement engine mounts were OEM rubber or were they polyurethane? PU can be noisy if not properly lubed when installed.

Have you had brake pads and discs changed yet? The "twirling" noise, if somewhat metallic sounding, could be the indicator that pads are low. Alternatively, if you notice the noise gets louder or quieter depending which direction you're turning, it could be a wheel bearing.

Creaking noise coming from the car chassis. Could potentially be a heat shield or guard of some sort rubbing on wheels or drive shafts - have a look under car and see if anything is loose.

Personally, I've been having problems with wheel alignment, so if you haven't had that checked before, do so, preferably at dealer as these seem to be difficult vehicles to align correctly.

I'm by no means a mechanic or expert, just speaking from my experiences. Hope this helps though. Interested to hear your follow-up.
