Maybe there is an adjustment on the brake switch, although if you like to push it extra hard, maybe leave it.

I hate pushing it extra hard, but it seems the only option, interestingly.
According to iGuide:
"To trigger an auto stop, drive forward with Drive (D) or Sport (S) selected, and stop the vehicle. Fully press the brake pedal to make sure the vehicle is stationary."
My bold. I sure have to "fully press the brake pedal"!
Interesting how hard I have to push the pedal.
So, if anyone else has the same issue - Stop/Start not operating, push the brake pedal. HARD!!!
Cheers

PS I discovered this when I stopped in out very short, but steep, driveway to talk to a neighbour. I pushed the pedal hard and the auto Stop/Start actually operated, much to my amazement.
can someone please confirm how to turn off this feature??.
if it cant be turned off permanently, i'll probably not buy the vehicle and stick with D4
Apparently, there is a cable you can disconnect between the battery and jack holder. Someone posted a photo on the Australian Discovery 5 Facebook Group.

I’m told the start stop on these does not have a dedicated battery.
Do you have the proximity key? This is known to kill batteries cause it’s running basically all the time.
