I'd have to say that the headlights are great on high beam with regard to a wide angle beam showing up the sides of the road. They do not however have a very long throw which is a bit disappointing. Really just a long distance driving/spot light would solve the problem because as I said wide angle is very good.
A friend of mine has an early RRS with standard Halogens and has had a pair of Lightforce lights mounted on where the number plate is on a special mount that holds the plate and has a small bar above it. It was done by MLR and they had to reinforce behind the bumper. Works well.
I have read that LEDs don't have much of a long throw but maybe Gordon has found some that have.
