The main battery is in the spare wheel well and the stop-start battery in the right rear corner. Disconnecting the earth lead from the stop-start battery will disable stop-start but if removing a fuse does the same job then I'd try it.
Just picked up my2014 RRS to replace the my13.5 L32 which was flattened a few weeks ago.
But not impressed with this "Intelligent Stop Start " I note there is a separate fuse for this "feature" Can I just take this out ?
Still looking to find a battery. No mention in owners manual of where they have hidden it. Need to know principle ?

Why not ask the dealer?

If you apply less pressure to the brake pedal doesn't the engine keep running?
Hi Oldie,
did you try taking out the fuse? Did it work?

Greg,
Tried to find the fuse to give it a go. I hope I never have to change any of the fuses in the Engine bay or glove box fuse panels. It appears the engine bay one needs the big plastic scuttle across the bottom of the windscreen taken out. And that needs the wiper arms taken off the motor shaft and ....
I also spoke to a service tech at one of the dealers that I have dealt with for many years and he said the stop/start must not be disabled. Something about an ADR ....
So I thought I would familiarise myself with all the new gadgets and was going through all the buttons and found one that turns the Auto stop/start off !!. There is nothing in the manual apart from the diagram in the back which points to the button and indicates stop/start ON/OFF.

I'm pleased to read that it was easy to deal with - simples
Quite different from disabling Mazda's annoying stop/start which requires a wiring work around.
Enquiries to the Mazda stealers about such wiring or a equivalent software adjustment also result in the "aber das ist verboten" response.
In my Skoda there is a button that has to be pressed to disable it. But you have to press it each time that you start the car. Guess which is the only button showing wear (after 3 years?)
Having said that - as per DiscoMick you learn how to drive around it. Come to a stop and take pressure off the brake - not enough for the car to move, but enough to trick the car.. It works but takes some getting used to!

Our Mazda 2 also has a button to turn it off, but I never remember, so I just apply only light pressure to the brake pedal.
The economic/environmental benefit of Sop Start is negligible. It will shorten the life of your starter though.
If the ADRs say your vehicle must have it, it's only for compliance, but I doubt the ADRs do require it. Worth checking.
If I had it in my car I'd disable it so that I didn't have to press the button every time I started the car.
Cheers, Billy.
Keeping it simple is complicated.
