    Extended Warranty Insurance

Been doing some research. Seems the cover offered by LR is expensive compared to either going direct with the same insurer or choosing different.

The Redbook looks pretty good for 3 year extension. Still getting some prices etc.

    Extended Warranty Insurance

Did you see the bits on the first couple:

    Can use second hand parts
    Can use non-genuine parts

    Extended Warranty Insurance

That would have me walking away.

Never went with extended warranty, banked the money. Went on a holiday. Extended Warranty Insurance

You have to check which company actually provides the extended warranty and whether the car company will stand behind it or not. Seems to be a lot of variation in quality.
I was interested to watch a John Cadogan piece while off with the flu in which be praised Subaru, Mazda, Hyundai and Kia for their service to their customers and bagged the other companies, particularly Holden, Ford, Toyota and VW. It certainly didn't fit the way some of those companies advertise themselves. No mention by him of Land Rover, so I don't know what that means.

Here's the wording in the policy I bought:
"If a part of a Covered Component requires replacement the repairer may
replace with a similar or reconditioned part. To the best of their endeavours, repairers will attempt to source and use
    genuine parts."

That's good enough for me, at least the car will be going again. But I can imagine that for others this may not be good enough.

I have 3rd party extended warranty with Eric Insurance. For me it is disaster insurance more than anything. If something serious happens, as long as I can get the thing going again. If I am unsure of the quality or repair, ie re using components, then I would sell the thing and try again. Most of these insurance mobs seem to registered in Gibralter or weird places like there.

Hopefully it will be a waste of money, Iwould be happy if I never have to make a claim.

    Cheers, Simmo
