    Transmission Service Intervals

    Hi All,
I am interested to know how often everyone has their transmission serviced and if the intervals alters between the V6 & V8?

Did a quick search of the forum and found bits & pieces.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S What do you normally pay for the transmission service.

    Cheers, Craig

every 60-100k Km depending on how arduous the use. You can get them to have a look at the oil to see if it needs changing or not. You should expect less than $1000.

Mine at 80k Km still looked brand new.

I believe A & B Automotive Remanufacturing are the go to folk in Melbourne for ZF serving. They should be able to give you a more definitive answer.
    Cheers,

    Craig,

I haven't heard of any problems with the 8 speed. As SBD4 said A&B Automotive are the ones to get it checked. They're in Dandenong and great to deal with.

I've been told about $1500 from an independent, most of it is price for oil and filter ($1250).

I haven't asked the dealership. Let us know how you go.

I had it done at 80K, cost was $690. 6l of LF8 ($290), filter kit including pan ($250) and labour ($150). I will have it serviced again at 130K as I tow a large caravan and do a lot of stop start driving.

The cheapest i found at the time was from UK for <$500 - ZF 8HP45 Automatic transmission gearbox filter fluid service kit with 8L of oil | eBay

My transmission specialist is Wyong Automatics and I have used them since 2011 when they rebuilt my D3 ZF. They also double flushed my D4 box after another mechanic serviced it and used non ZF fluid.
I have seen their workshop, talked extensively to Rod (owner) and have talked to other customers. These guys know their stuff. The service involved dropping the pan and oil in it and replacing what came out which was 6l, they replaced the pan and filter and inspected the old filter.

6l for $290 is $48/l which is a good price but they would pay a fair bit less from ZF and buy in bulk.
