ride is softer than the 21” I have. A lot better for touring long distance. 20” are Not racing tires definitely have roll when you hit corners hard.

under steer can be a shocker if pushing on at recommended pressures with 20", but not too bad if pressures are up at around 38 PSI.... better tyre wear too. On road pressure of coarse. Doesn't give away too much in ride quality especially if loaded up a bit.

Never noticed that... both my RRSs have had 20" tyres. Always run at factory recommended pressures and never had a moment with those pressures including one big drive across the mountains. Had 2 very scary moments where tyres were overinflated after service, one was in the wet. One or 2 psi over is fine but over the ride suffers and grip is reduced especially in the wet IMHO. A movie stunt driver once told me that they overinflated tyres to make it look more spectacular.

Seems like a good place to ask--

Speed rating of L494 tyres are?
    and rim load rating?

Rim rating is 950KG on the 20" rims as you can see from this listing - have a look at the pictures, its cast on the rim GENUINE LAND ROVER 20" RANGE ROVER Sport Vogue Wheels RIMS - EXCELLENT | eBay

I just checked my 22s and they are also 950KG

Picture of my tyre placard, the speed rating varies depending on the tyre

I guess it may depend on the tyre you have and the specs of the vehicle.

Mine is a TDV6 SE with no transfer case (high range only) giving a 60/40 torque split rear/front. If you have torque vectoring that will improve things too.

I am running 255/55R20 Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/Ts which came with the car (now on 2nd set at 158k km with 3mm to wear indicators - 1st went to 94k Kms). I ran the tyres at recommended pressures for the 1st 50k Km and found the middle of the tyre was not wearing as quickly as the outer edges so I upped the pressures. Doing that gave me more even wear and as a bonus, much better handling...with a bit harsher ride.

I found that the lower pressures gave a lot more tyre squeal while cornering at a lower speed threshold in the dry with mild understeer and in the wet, DSC kicking in quick smart. Note that this is when pushing it hard through tight bends. With the pressures up I don't experience the handling issues nearly as much.

I think if I had the pressure any higher I would certainly experience the same sketchy handling you mentioned. I think it must just be the sweet spot for this particular tyre on my car.

Of coarse, if I was just pottering along being a good boy all the time it wouldn't be a problem
    Cheers,

    Sean

Has anybody experienced 265/60 R20 with standard 20' rims ? Do they fit ?
    Thanks

So I have acquired yet another set of rims..... These are 21s and have a bit of kerb rash but are perfectly usable. I had the 20" set on when I had my little excursion to Wakefield and these were offered to me as a spare set for a track day once I get the ATs put on the 20"rims. Since we are off on a road trip next week I thought I'd give them a run and see how they go
The rims are fitted with 275/45-21 Atturos, now I had never heard of these tyres but they seem to be Taiwanese made for the US market. I'm fairly impressed with them, they are quieter than the Pirellis on the 20" rims and the handling with the 21s is substantially better. I'd always thought of the 21s as a bit of a oddball size but these seem to tram track less than the Pirellis that are on the 22s and the vehicle feels substantially more planted than on the 20s
