And the SC 3l V6 is the V8 with 2 cylinders cut off. Some reckon the V6 is the better engine to drive...less brutal but equally smooth and fast enough for Aussie roads/laws😚
V8SC D4s are very rare..only seen one in Aus for sale..for 80k!
USA Jag owner adore these engines which are generally very reliable...main issues are SC coupler rattle/fail and crap Italian water pump and rear plastic discharge pipe o ring leaks...which could be a costly leak😐
Oh and there's the venerable gearbox rotary selector fail too..but of course in the litigeous USA these units have all been replaced by JLR free...not so in Aus.
A mate recently bought a jag with the SCV6, much better vehicle for that motor.
JLR V6 and V8 engines produced at Ford Bridgend now ceased as the plant has closed. Looks like the end of the line for the AJ6 and 8...AJ126 etc. Shame.
Yes..as noted above the V6 shared the same block as the V8 but with smaller bores and shorter heads fitted. Rear 2 cylinders are blanked off.
Production of the V8 has been transferred to the JLR engine factory in Wolverhampton.
Seems that the V6 is finished though, you can't buy a new Jag with the V6, and there's the new inline 6 Ingenium in the Land Rovers, which I guess is too long to fit in the Jags.
