Typical Delivery Leadtimes and Pivi Pro

    Two unrelated questions:

    1. What lead-times have people experienced for RRS when the order requires them to be built, ie a specific car coming from the factory. I ordered my car in January and the dealer is quoting an estimated delivery in May. Is that typical?
    2. I notice that all models, but the RR and RRS, now come with the upgraded Pivi Pro infotainment system. Does anybody have any good information, or credible rumours, when Pivi Pro will be extended to the RRS?

Based on my experience with a couple of orders:

    2008 Disco 3 - Ordered Early December 2007, delivered late March 2008
2016 Defender 130 - Ordered July 2105, delivered Feb 2016 (was promised for Nov 2015 but that ended up being the build date)

Yours sounds about right, considering it's got to be scheduled and built and then has to be scheduled on a boat for delivery, then there is the interminable 3 week wait between it arriving at the dealership and being delivered, that's the worst of all Enjoy your new beast when it arrives, pictures are expected.

    Regards,

For question 2, you might also try asking over on rrsport.co.uk forum.

    Hey Mate,

Did you get any information on delivery or Pivi Pro for newly being built RR Sport models?

Ordered in March end but no information on delivery yet.

I read an article some time ago that the "electrical architecture of the L494 is not capable of supporting Pivi Pro". I cannot remember where I saw it, but I think it was in the context of the changes for the next generation of the RRS. That suggested to me that you will have to wait for next gen to Pivi Pro in an RRS.

BTW: An update on the timeline:

    Deal Date: 15 Jan 2021
    Build Date: 3 March
On Ship Date: not completely sure, but towards the latter part of March
Landed at MIRRT (Webb Dock): 29 April
Moved from MIRRT to Prixcar compound at Webb Dock: 13 May
Delivery to Dealer: scheduled for 17 May (at least one dealer, Rex Gorrell, got their delivery last week)
Delivery to Me: TBC, but was estimated as 20 May

It has been frustrating to see that it has taken longer to travel 10km from Webb Dock to the dealer, than it took for it to make its way from Durban to Melbourne (I tracked the ship).

I hope this info helps somebody with managing their expectations.

Thanks for the updated info. Much appreciated.

How did you get those dates? Any tracking?

Which shipping company Land Rover uses? How and when did you get your VIN to track in Prixcar and on Ship?

We’ve ordered our 2022 RRS HSE in early March, and it’s due around early July at this stage, but I’m not going to hold my breath with all the production delays due to COVID and Computer chips.

‘No word from the dealership so who knows, might still be on time!

Handover to me has been confirmed as this Friday, ie 21 May. That is 3 weeks after the ship docked.

I got the name of the ship and the VIN from the dealer. The shipping company was Wallenius Whilelmsen. I do not know if JLR uses other shippers. You can track the ship via sites like MarineTraffic: Global Ship Tracking Intelligence | AIS Marine Traffic. There are others.

It seems that it takes, at best, 14 days to move from MIRRT to the dealer, via Prixcar Services | Car Transport Services Australia. My dealer obviously took longer. Not information on why. If you have the VIN you can track your car from wharf to dealer via the Prixcar site, using the dealer link.

    Thanks a lot mate.

Enjoy the ride in new beast.

I will keep updating when I hear something from dealer…

I would be inclined to contact the dealer and find out when it will be built. It should be shortly for a July delivery.

In my case, it took around 3 weeks (not 100% positive) from build to onboard the ship.
