Trying out the "sport" bit

Which tyres were you running? I would have thought the RRS would be a bit quicker than 1.24.

The Hampster did a comparison between a RRS supercharged and a Mini Cooper S (works from memory) a few years ago on Top Gear and the RRS was similar in lap times.

I've driven Wakefield a bit in the past and enjoy the track, It's pretty safe, although I have seen a HSV hit a wall in the wet.

The highlights were trips as a passenger in a 993 911RS, Ferrari Testarossa, Ferrari 355 and a Mustang GT350 (Fastback) and being a smidge faster than my mate when we were sharing my BMW 330CI.

I've got a set of 255 Pirellis that are on the 20" rims that I wanted to wear out and I aint the Stig... The excel in the footage is one of my mate's sons and by the end of the day I was getting very close to him, that was my first track day, I started at 1.32 or something so I'm pretty happy with where I got to. On a quick run I was topping 170 on the main straight and I reckon that with a bit more practice I could probably knock another couple of seconds off. Its a tight track to put a big vehicle around, although very safe with big runoffs everywhere. I think that you could beat the mini if you had the right track. At one stage I was in front of the excel and although he was getting close to me at the start of the main straight I had a couple of hundred meters on him by the time I was at the top of the straight.
I wanted to be a bit gentle on the car as well, after all its not a track toy.

Drove out to Menindee yesterday, the first 15 kays was amazing. If you find yourself in BH with a Dynamic Mode button in your car you MUST drive it.
The trip out to the Lakes was made in normal mode but as the hills approached on the return to BH the Dynamic button was pressed---- a nice bit of bitumen with plenty of advisory bend and speed posts, and proper signposted DIPS and blind crests! With a couple of blind crests that HAD bend markers!! So much fun, so little encouragement from the navigator [bighmmm][bigrolf]
