    First repair - probably exhaust

Mine is in to get a diagnosis today with view to fix next week.
Dealer is fully booked, had to beg to get diagnosis done today.
Horrible exhaust smell - I suspect cracked exhaust somewhere between engine and cat.
Car is under 3rd party warranty.
This is the first time I have had to get anything fixed that is not part of service, I will let you all know how it goes.

    update

ok, so it seems prior to my ownership, (and I had been told at time of purchase that this was a LR demo car used for terapod displays etc, and I bought the car with only 16k km on the clock), somebody had put after-market injectors in.
One of these is leaking which is causing all the fumes.
They get replaced in bunches of 3, so replacement of 3 will cost $1,300 odd. Should be fixed next week some time.

I can only speculate as to why the injectors were replaced, and why they used after-market injectors. Did somebody put petrol in by mistake and didn't want to tell the boss?

I am not bothering with the 3rd party warranty claim, there are enough weasel words in the policy about non-Manufacturer parts to convince me it will be a waste of time.

    pipes

final update - car now back and running as normal, yay .
Not actually leaky injector but leaky injector pipe. Apparently the pipes are sometimes removed to gain access to other parts of the engine. On mine, somebody had put after-market pipes back on at some stage.
Total cost to fix $1355. I think that breaks down to $356 for parts and labour and $999 for the car-wash
