Rattle Genuine Tow Hitch Receiver Fix???

    Hi everyone.

Our new MY 2022 D350 with the factory tow hitch receiver and hitch is seriously clunky when towing our 8x5 tandom trailer, let alone what it will be like towing the 20.6 ZoneRV Off road caravan when it arrives.

The hitch receiver isn’t equiped with a bolt to tighten the hitch up to prevent rattle, as per say a Hayman Reece unit or other tow hitch so has anyone else with a factory late model hitch experienced the same noisy towing and if so, have you been able to retrofit a fix such as a jam bolt for the tow hitch or some other work around?

Im seriously surprised that Range Rover would sign off on a tow bar with this much play in it (seeing as horse floats are a target market) and may even refer it back to the dealer for review as in all my towing, it’s the worse I’ve ever experienced, and that includes my Defender with its current Pintle hook military trailer and Dixon Bate NATO hitch!

Thanks for any info and best wishes.

Something like this should sort it out (I assume it is a standard hitch set up):

    Cheers,

    Good on you Sean

    Thanks Sean!
I had one of these a few years ago but lost the parts to it , used it on the Defender.
‘I’m off to EBay to order another for the Rangie.
    Good on you Sean mate.👍
‘I’ll report back with how it improves the towing experience.

    Towbars.

English square tubing used to make the rear tow point is 52mm ID

The Australian supplied tongue is the standard Hayman Reese 50mm OD

To the Owners that tow stuff,, does the hitch bang around much?
it flops around like a ***** in a post hole

with this much slop wont the ball weight pivot on the pin?

can anyone measure a standard GEN hayman Reese receiver please?

Just talked to a Customer Service Rep for Hayman Reese (Cequent ?)

and the receiver has "a tolerance of 1-2mm"

I'm sure the steel supplier is good with that......

    omg....

Looks like a great product, however isn’t the Land Rover, Range Rover ball assembly supposed to a solid 2” section of steel as opposed to the hollow one?

    Solid vs hollow channel

Dad, I’m pretty sure the OEM box section hitch arm is hollow, but I’ll check this afternoon.
I’ve removed it from the vehicle so haven’t fitted the anti rattle pin assembly from Hayman Reece yet, but again, I’m sure it’s standard hollow box section.
