    Considering RRS P400 New Order

    Hello people,

I'm new here and have always been an LR fan.

I'm considering a new RRS P400 (5+2 seats). I test drove a DI6 183kw as no p400s were available anywhere. I would welcome any first hand experiences/ advises with the P400. I am cross shopping the RRS with a BMW X5 40i Msport and a GLE 400d. I know its a bit weird comparison, I prefer diesel torque and fuel efficiency but my priority would be for performance and driveability, hence why I shortlisted the two petrols (RRS p400, X5 40i) against the GLE 400d as they are all somewhat similar in driving performance, acceleration. RRS come on top of my list for looks and the paper specs of the P400 (as im yet to drive one).

If you want to get a sense of what the P400 engine is like, you could see if you can find a P400 defender to try out. Surprised the RRS you got to drive was 183Kw. I thought the lowest power rating was now 225Kw (D300). The D350 (258kw) might get you the best of both worlds, diesel + performance (albeit not quite up to the P400 level).
    Cheers,

    Sean

Thanks SBD4. Yeah, might have been a previous year model or something they had. It looked nice in British racing green and performance was decent for its size and weight, but not quite the Oomph i was looking for. Back to the point; yes, i might look around for a p400 defender to see what it goes like. The current extended delays are a shocker and i'm not sure if that will veer me away to the alternate options (x5 and gle) as at least there are near new cars around unlike the RRS as theres nothing around.
