    Fitting wheels to my L494

I had the front wheels off from my rather new L494 to fit mudflaps. Got that done OK even though the job is over complicated but when it came to fitting the wheels I struggled.
Alright I am an old fellow at 80 but still quite fit but those wheels really tested me.
Those 21 inch with tyres are frikkin heavy!
I now have a guide pin made by a good old friend who is even older than me! (Wow! that will be carried in the car
This simply screws onto any stud and allows the wheel to be guided into place making it easy to fit some nuts, remove the guide pin and finish the job with a minimum of stress.
I reckon these should be with all of these cars

I hope to never find out!! I'm sure the car has its own jack.. somewhere. Its funny how I bought a purpose built wheel jack for the van but have no interest in the car.....

Hi Pedro: It is not the jack that is the issue. It is holding the wheel in place on hub spigot while aligning wheel studs to get at least one nut onto a stud. A lot simpler with that tool that I have.

You can find them here You are being redirected... or grab a 100mm bolt and cut the head off it and you have the same thing

I'm confused as to how cutting off the head of a 100mm bolt will do the same thing. You will need a bolt of the correct diameter to fit in the stud hole and then drill and tap the stud thread into one end. Probably a good idea to add something on the end to enable easy tightening and removal as well.

You need two pins. One long, one short. The wheel is suspended on the long one and rotated until a hole lines up with the short one, then you push the wheel inward.

There was a chap on the FullFatRR forum who was making them.

You can use a bolt on cars like the Amarok which don’t have wheel studs.

Anzac: Cutting the head off a bolt would see you trying to fit two male threads together when you need a female thread to screw onto the wheel stud.
