    L494 130,000 Service

I'm doing the 130K service on my RRS and thought I'd add a bit of info on where I got the parts and consumables. The 130K service dictates the replacement of a few more items than the previous services that I've done, bits I've sourced are:

Dynamic Suspension Reservoir - LR07255, Apparently the location for the filter is in the reservoir, hence it needs replacing. Dealer quoted $260 for the reservoir, I got one from British parts shipped along with an oil filter for about $230
The rear diff and transfer case oil are also due for replacement at 130K After looking at the prices for the unobtainium based LR oils I decided to go with Ravenol oils instead. They are distributed in Australia by Imparts who are more than happy to supply to cash sales and I picked up my oils from their depot in Fyshwick MDL is $63 a litre, TF0870 is $67 a litre and SSF is $43 a litre (all ex GST prices) The SSF is just fancy Power steering fluid to top up the dynamic suspension system after you replace the reservoir.

They were the only one easily available outside the dealer network, they seem to get a pretty good review on the UK forums and unlike a ZF gearbox where the original oil is reasonably available locally the diff and transfer case oils aren't. I believe that shell make the factory oils and that in the UK they are available but I didn't have any luck locating them locally.

I cant resist a "Contact Us" .. asked them about an engine oil less about cold starts and more about 30deg days moving 6t... a 40w oil really cant hurt anything but mpg. And may prevent, er, things... I do think the 30w is not enough towing my van...

An interesting side effect of the service, I replaced the brake fluid as it was probably time and I wasn't sure that it had been done before and so was probably the original. My RRS has always had shuddery brakes, when I got it I replaced the front pads and rotors as they were pretty scored and it fixed the shudders - for a while. I did a track day and a few weeks afterward the shudders came back, I had put it down to brake material build up from the reasonably aggressive DBA pads that I had fitted and put up with it with the intention of changing the pads at some point in time.
After replacing the fluid and running the vehicle in and out of town for a few days the shudders have completely gone. I can only surmise that there was some air in the callipers that led to the pistons not applying evenly. Anyway maybe a worthwhile tip if anyone else has a similar problem. BTW I used the oil extractor in the picture above to vacuum bleed the brakes.

Just a slight correction to Tote's post. The part number for the Dynamic Suspension Reservoir is LR72550 not LR7255, the last 0 was missing.
