Did they run a scan on the ECU to see if it was a bad injector or other engine related problem?Quote:
Workshop said it was probably the two engine mounts, so they changed them, but the shake is still there.
If it's an engine problem then early diagnosis could be the difference between a few hundred and 25K dollars.

Is it the actual engine shaking more than it should be at idle,and transferring some noise through the steering?
As it has electric power steering,can this be electrically disconnected at idle for a short time to see if the issue goes away?
Belts sounds and look like they run as they should. Engine does seem to be running louder than it should (louder tappet sound on both the right and left side of the engine). Wonder if the steering humm could be associated with the radiator fans..
Was there a tappet sound previously?
Does the sound change when revs are around 1000 rpm?
At 1000rpm the tappet sound isn’t as noticeable, the engine obviously runs a little faster and louder and the steering shake largely goes away as the entire car then vibrates in normal fashion due to the higher rpm, and the steering shakes as much as the dash at that rpm
Can you remove a fuse to disable the electric steering to observe if the noise and vibration ceases?
Just quickly, to possibly set my expectations straight, are these cars meant to have a slight murmur in the steering, is that normal, or should the steering be stable with no humm being felt through the wheel whilst stopped and at idle?
Mine is a SDV6, but yes, there is a slight vibration through the steering wheel at idle. Idle appears to be about 700rpm or perhaps slightly less on the tacho. increasing rpm to 800, by pressing the accelerator ever so gently , seems to reduce the vibration significantly. And there are various spots in the rev range that have differing vibrations through the steering wheel, but idle seems to have the most significant vibrations.
