    Tdv6 shaking

Hi all, firstly like to say g’day, and looking forward to getting to know you all, hopefully as enthusiasts and not problem solvers!!

I’ve got a tdv6 l494 2016, all of a sudden she’s got a nasty shake/humm in the steering wheel only at idle (c.700rpm). Workshop said it was probably the two engine mounts, so they changed them, but the shake is still there. Any ideas what could be going on? Or is this normal and I have just lost my mind? Car sounds a little lumpy, but they reckon the diagnostic tool not showing any issues...Open to suggestions either way

Without naming them, what sort of "workshop" are you referring to?

G'day Donny and welcome to the forum.

Can't say I can offer any insight, what happens when you turn the wheel when this is happening? Also, do you have lane departure warning? If so have you tried fiddling with that to se if it makes any difference? I assume this is happening while stationary given that you say it only happens at idle.
    Cheers,

    Sean

Has the steering fluid reservoir been checked for correct level and is the serpentine belt running evenly?

It’s an accredited LR workshop, so would have thought they should know, but I’ve been surprised before with other marques.

The shake is most evident at idle and whilst stationary, sorry I should have clarified this. Also doesn’t matter if the steering is straight or on full lock, shake is the same.

I haven’t checked the serpentine belt, don’t know what I would be looking for to be honest.

Wondering if the belt is running smoothly or jerking which might indicate a varying load on the belt.

Did you check on LDW as suggested?

Yes it’s electronic power steering. I’ll have to check the serpentine belt, haven’t had a chance yet..

The belt check was on the assumption of a PS pump rather than electric.
