There isnt a lot of difference between the SD's, 700nm to 750nm
I could sway your decision by putting in one simple pic of the two cranks side by side..... [wink11]

Well, before I read of crankshaft failures, Picked up a lathe from Sydney and upon trailer bought it back to the Sunshine Coast
The load was over the max tow weight, but the after market alarms only shrieked twice coming up long pulls, then by pulling over and engine idling for 10 mins I was away again
this is a big long heavy test for any tow

Hey Mate,
Don't know how you are progressing with the search but you may not be aware that unlike the D3/4s and potentially older RRS (the model that sat on a D3/4 chassis would have been at a guess), the L494s aren't all set up for towing. Mine only has the wiring.
Cheers,
Kev.
Rear axel weight is a problem if you have a large van. I can't have anything in the rear seat or rear of car , also had to change out the two Lead acid batteries. Land Rover lies about empty weights.
Thanks all, the boss didnt like the RRS she drove so we have gone down a different path..
Cheers Bulletman
You should have taken a supercharged petrol one for a run [biggrin] The earlier 5.0 supercharged ones had the timing chain issue, fixed with the L494

1750kg for the rear, SDV8. I would need a ball weight over 400kgs to put it over, that with the back seat empty( well, two dogs and a behind the seat tool box) with spare oil, camping chairs and a ten panel dog enclosure in the boot. Latest ball weight with a 3.1T van is around 280. Rear Toyos at 50lb, they get to nearly 60 after a few hours but Mr Toyo says 50 cold is fine.
