    Evoque new key programming

    Hello all,

Was wondering if anyone could answer some key coding questions for me...

Just got a 2nd hand 2014 Evoque, and because it only had one key, the dealer said he'd order a second and he'd cover the cost of getting LR to program it to the car when it arrived in a few weeks.

So I take the new key to LR today and they tell me that we'll also need a KVM. Is this correct? The key was ordered matched to my VIN.

    Thanks

If a dealer is to add a new key then yes, they have to replace the KVM (also referred to as RFA), it's LR policy.

But frankly you should not be paying for a replacement KVM... Q491v5 LR KVM Replacement.pdf

There are some automotive locksmiths around who would be able to program a key without replacing the KVM/RFA, using aftermarket tools, the dealers are restricted to using the official approved tools only.
