    Understanding Topix Vehicle Spec

    I downloaded the Topix spec for my new vehicle (MY17 DS HSE Lux) the other day. I supposed that it was out of the same database that controlled the build of my car, so I assumed a 1:1 correspondence. Well, I know what they say about assumptions...
    I could ask the dealer, but I think there is probably a lot more collective knowledge out there in this group.
    Here are some things I don't understand - any explanations would be appreciated.

    1. I ordered the "Intelligent Dynamics" pack (Active Driveline and Adaptive Dynamics). These are both called out by these names in the brochure. In Topix I see "Dynamic Driveline" and "Magnetic Damping System". Since I'm done with assuming, can anyone confirm that these are the same things?

    2. I should have 10-way electric memory seats. I see "Power 8-way driver seat adjust", "Power 8-way pass seat adjust", "Lumbar Seat - 2 way driver", and "DR/PAS Elec Frt st adj/memory". Now, the passenger seat does indeed have lumbar adjustment, but not according to Topix???

    3. According to Topix, I have a "French Literature Pack" . Can't find it anywhere!

    4. Topix also credits me with "Mapcare - Aust/Pacific 3yr". Does anyone know what this is?

    5. What about "Halewood Jaguar"? "T/Tow HTH-Prep/Row"? "TL4 Package"?

    6. And does anyone know what a "H7" battery is?

    How serious/valid/important/credible is this Topix spec, anyway?

    You can check the active driveline by looking at it operating on the 4WD screen. Its pretty cool I reckon. The 4WD switches in and out as required and the amount of drive to each rear wheel is shown by the two clutch symbols. If you have that you have active driveline!

    The magnetic dampers are the adaptive dynamics.

    I searched Google for the French Literature Pack and ended up with only your query here

    The H7 would appear to be the standard battery for my late 2016 DS MY17, however some forums suggest there's an H8 on the latest models that just squeezes into the same mount as the H7 and offers slightly better performance. I'm not sure what the specs are since most discussions degrade into replacing them with alternative brands and get sidetracked on price and mounts.

    I think the 'Halewood Jaguar' is the where our L550s were made.

    I have the 'TL3 package' according to my list, but I've no idea what it means. The Australian glossy DS brochure doesn't seem to mention it. This site []New 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport TL4 - HSE LUX

    What is:

    Forward Facing Camera

    This appears on the TOPix report for the car I'm about to purchase but I have no idea what it is...

    My report also says Power 8-way driver seat adjust on a HSE Lux

    To answer my own question. Forward facing camera is related to the autonomous braking system...

    Hmm. I've been referring to a feature of my MY16 DS as "Active Driveline", but my car's Topix spec says "Efficient Driveline" and the description from BobD doesn't match what I see on my 4x4i info screen.

    There's a single circle-with-a-padlock on my screen in the middle of the car. During highway driving the padlock is open and the circle is green – which indicates only the front wheels being driven. When the rears get some torque the padlock closes and some fraction of the circle gets drawn in orange instead of green, clockwise from the top. The more orange, the more torque heading to the back wheels.

    So is that Active Driveline or something else?

    LR has so many features on different cars it's hard to keep track of what's what.

    That's not active driveline. That's the normal driveline with the tail shaft permanently connected to the rear wheels. On the active driveline there are clutches on each rear axle inside the diff (which is not actually a differential, just pinion and crown wheel and clutches to drive the axles at different speeds) and the rear wheels are completely disconnected from the tailshaft when it goes to front wheel drive. There is a synchro at the front to either fully engage the tailshaft or disengage it fully. No partial engagement at the front. It is either on or off. When off, the whole drive line to the rear is disconnected and doesn't turn.

    Closing the loop on this. What Land Rover calls "Efficient Driveline" is a standard Haldex AWD unit. It's a computer-controlled clutch between the rear drive shaft and the rear differential. The same thing is found in a heap of other AWD vehicles.

    Despite the name it's not actually as efficient as LR's Active Driveline. It's also not as effective in 4WD situations. But it is lighter and smaller and cheaper.
