Looking for Discovery Sport DBS Guinea Pigs

Hi Willem, my Tiguan has STOP/START and I not only hate it, but it is down right dangerous, as I have also found in every new vehicle I test drove before buying the Tiguan.


I have been waiting to see if someone came up with a software fix for the new Tiguan but so far no go.


So I am working on a simple add-on device that automatically pulses the STOP/START deactivation switch circuit in the Tiguan, every time the ignition is turned on.


Not sure how the Land Rover version works, but this may be a fix for them as well.

The mechanic I use who specialises in European cars has worked out a fix for the stop/ start in BMWs. I don't know the details, but it has to do with inputting different voltage figures so the computer thinks it needs to keep running rather than stop. No joy for anything else, though.

If you work something out for the Discovery Sport I'd love to know. In the meantime I just switch it off every time I start the car. If I remember.

BTW, I'd happily volunteer as a guinea pig, but I'm in Geelong, not the Gold Coast.

Hi again Willem, with the earlier Tiguan ( and other older VWs ) , they could reset the transmission response temperature from -50C to +50C ( or something like that ) and this would stop the STOP/START function from activating.


This does not work with the new Tiguan.


I will let you know if I get anything done with the STOP/START deactivation unit.


As for the Dual Battery kit development, if you have the time, post up ( or e-mail me ) some photos of the cranking battery setup and I’ll compare them with the new RRS setups I have already done.

There is nowhere under the bonnet of a DS to put a second battery, at least on my Ingenium powered 2017 MY.

Did you have somewhere in mind to put the battery?

I bought a MY17 TD4 HSE in July and before I saw your posts I already acquired all the bits and pieces for my 2nd battery setup. I am keen to see where you are up to with your work on this, and happy to help if i can. As a retired Electronics Engineer and a 4WD camper since the 80's I have a good idea what I am doing, but it's nice to bounce ideas off like minded folk. I have had dual battery setups since my 1985 Pajero SWB Sports and 1997 Discovery SE but this is going to be a challenge with such a tiny amount of space available.
