Just Picked My First Discovery... Spending Long Weekend in a Jag

Hi everyone, my first post here.

Just picked the first LR in my life last Thursday! Very excited. Discovery Sport HSE 180 with some nice kit, in gorgeous Aruba Blue.

The only trouble is after about 2 hours of me driving it out of the dealership I got an error saying that IEB system was not available and adaptive cruise control switched off for good. Since LR doesn't have an option to use ACC as "normal" cruise control in some situations, it means that I didn't have any cruise control at all. Bummer!

Fortunately, the guys at the dealership were pretty good and after my call took the car back and gave me a Jag to drive for the long weekend. Which is very nice and all, but I'm still worried that such fault, this soon, is a taste of things to come. I love the car and it is intended to take the family to some very long trips, hence ACC -- the most important feature for us.

Put my mind at ease -- have I made the right choice?

Thanks mate Yeah it seems to be this weird love or hate thing about the brand... People are either really raving about it or go full-on hating it, no middle ground.

Wish I could put your mind at rest, but I had numerous issues with my DS. Nothing major or mechanical, but stupid little things like loose trim, rattles, leaks - just poor workmanship, inferior materials, and bad quality control really. It was back to the dealer once a month for the first six months, and that did rather take the edge off the new car ownership experience. However, now it's settled down and no new issues for nearly a year (touch wood), and I do really like the car and can't think of anything I'd rather be driving.

Don't worry. I think it's pretty common to have a few teething problems with any new car. Software glitches are part of vehicle ownership just like mechanical issues these days. (Think about how often it happens with computers!) When you get it back, hope you enjoy it, take it for a good long run, show it who's boss and that it won't be spending all it's time in the suburbs!😎👍

Mine has been good for 12 months now and the ACC is working fine with no issues at all in that first 12 months. In fact, nothing to report at all. Once fixed it will be fine with no need to worry.

Thank you guys, feel much better

Picked it from the dealer this arvo, they said a fixture was a bit loose over the speed sensor, which caused it to misalign and switch off. They realigned it, updated software and re-calibrated it.

No problems driving back home, phew!

The weekend is going to be warm, so will be sure to take it for a nice long run somewhere nice
