    Roof racks

    Hey all,

Looking to add some roof racks to support two adult bikes (kids bikes are on the tow hitch).

I would like to keep it pretty streamlined.

    What are people using?

    Thanks
    JR

I think the roof racks offered with the disco sport are re branded Thule, I’ve looked at so many others and always seem to come back to Thule, not the cheapest but quality is always there.

Yep cant do anything without the rails

can get them off eBay, we just asked the dealer to throw them into the deal with the tow bar instead of the 20” wheels which i thought was a good compromise.

not sure on the cost of the items separately sorry.

    Hi

I’ve jut fitted some rhino racks recently without the rails. Code is Vortex 2500 Black.
They look ok but rails would be the go. To buy the rails it’s about $1200 and 200-300 for cross bars from the dealer! My way only $370!
04 disco td5 arb bull bar tow bar stck car plan to lift it and other things:)

I recently bought a set of non-genuine rails off ebay which are a lot cheaper than the Dealer ones. Silver Roof Rails Suitable For LAND ROVER DISCOVERY Sport 2015-2017 | eBay

The fit and finish of the rails seems fine. Too early to tell how they go long term.

For an occasional item, these look like a good option

Just read this one, I like the option of not needing rails.

I have LR roof rails but decided to go with Thule bars that extend beyond the rails to get extra cross bar length. Don't do it!

Wind noise is a major issue to the point where I've taken them off and won't re-fit them. The Thule bars have a strap that goes under the rails.

On my FL2 I had Thule bars that clamp in to the door openings with a pad on the roof. Not as noisy but still make some noise. The problem with them is that the spacing is restricted by having to clamp to the door openings. Probably doesn't matter for bikes.

I've seen another car with Thule bars on the LR rails that looked as though they were transferred from another car. They clamped onto the rails but the clamp was a different profile to the rail. Seemed solid enough but they may have the noise problem.
