I would get legal advice immediately.
Hello,
First time poster here and after some advice.
In a nutshell, here is the short version of the story.
July - purchased a new Discovery Sport 2017
August - Dashboard alerted me it needed service. Took it back to dealer for a quick service
September - Dashboard played up again, warning alerts went off again. Went back in for service
October - same issues and more. Electronics playing up, car showing minus 42 degrees, and the car started pumping out hot air. Dash would flash between km's per hour, to miles per hour randomly. Bluetooth stopped functioning. Rattling in drivers side door got consistent.
November - Electronics still playing up, the car starts "running funny" dashboard alerts still going off.
December - drove the car from GC to Geelong for Xmas. Whilst driving on the highway at 110km the car seat automatically adjusted itself to the point I was almost wedged between the steering wheel and seat. Pulled over immediately. Aircon goes. Bluetooth goes. Temp goes up.
Land rover assistance called and picked up car saying "looks like a major issue"
December - got a replacement loan car to drive back to GC and wait for the issues to be dealt with.
Jan - car was to be brought back to GC to repair as a full list of issues was given to my dealership. After not hearing for a couple of weeks, I called the dealership to see how the car was going. They advised car never arrived.
Mid Jan - receive a call from a service department in Geelong to say they changed the whole engine. No other work done.
Late Jan - car shows up at my doorstep. Tow truck guy knew no details, was just dropping it off.
Got in the car to move into the driveway, the car was stuck in PARK gear. Would not budge. Called Land Rover assist.
Land Rover assist tried to get the car towed, took a further 15min to get the pop-up gear to finally dislodge from PARK.
Feb - received a letter by email to basically say "come pick up your car, it has a new engine, here's' a two year extended warranty.
When I called the service department to see if all the other issues have been fixed and if it was safe to drive. they said no other work was done at the dealership. They themselves said it looks like the car has major issues and they would not want the same car back.
So, now I'm wondering where I stand. I have spoken to and lodged a complaint with fair work trading who said I'm well within the time frame for the car to be replaced. Land Rover obviously don't want to hear about it. I'm just over the whole Land Rover experience.
Thanks

Also lodge a complaint with the ACCC - they are hunting car companies at the moment and recently did Ford for unfair practices.
They also have an online proforma that you put in your details and the company details and it spits out the correct type of letter of demand (all legal etc) to send to the company.

I would also get a lawyer, its a small price to pay to have someone on YOUR SIDE, personally you are wasting your time with carebears such as fair trading, ACCC that will say to Jaguar Land Rover "thats not really playing fair, very naughty JLR" (personal opinion).
Consumer rights are not just for TVs, fridges etc etc...
Sounds like you have a nightmare, get your money back and buy a Hyundai (Tucson or Santa Fe) it will have a higher trim level and be 20K cheaper... oh and wont breakdown.... their service and support is also excellent.... 5 year warranty as well.

After LR authorized replacement of the engine, you can't really say "LR obviously don't want to hear about it". Maybe the dealer doesn't want to hear about it??
Did anyone say why they replaced the engine? Surely if it is still not behaving you can take it back again to your dealer for a fix, if not replacement. I assume it is still doing what ever it was that made the dealer replace the engine, which LR must have agreed to, so that didn't fix it. I can't see why LR wouldn't want it fixed properly after spending that much money on it.
At least my car only has a very intermittent incorrect outside temperature reading for a short time after start up. It also wants to be serviced every 14,000km, instead of 34000km, which I would do anyway, so that doesn't worry me. Thank goodness I don't have the litany of problems you have had but I can understand your frustration.
Maybe bypass the dealer and contact LR direct at a high level, in addition to getting a lawyer, if you haven't already. As Daz said, sell it when it is going well enough and get a Hyundai Santa Fe or Kia Sorrento unless you are a Land Rover nut like me!
Further to the above, I will get a temporary subscription to Topix for the DS this weekend and see what their bulletins say about this issue, which seems to be relatively common. You never know, there may be something about engine replacements which may shed some light on it.
I am currently paid up for the L405 for a few more days and I have finished with the workshop manuals and stuff for that now, unless Graeme would like me to find out anything for him!

I haven't got it Graeme, but will do and send you a copy.
I went on Topix and there are pages of known faults that they have fixes for, including the incorrect temperature readings and many faults in the In Control Touch Pro.
There is no mention of changing an engine to fix any of them or for any other reason, however. The dealers have access to all of this and Land Rover seems to be actively trying to fix all of the complaints, so I don't understand why they won't fix your car.
It seems to me that the dealers are either incompetent or lazy if they won't follow up and fix all of the warranty issues.
