What are the defects?
Airbag inflator: As it gets older, a combination of high temperatures and humidity can cause the airbag inflator propellant to degrade. If an affected vehicle is involved in a collision triggering the airbag, the metal inflator housing may explode/rupture under too much internal pressure.
What are the hazards?
In the event of an airbag inflator rupture, metal fragments could possibly shoot out, straight through the airbag cushion material towards the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or fatality.

So that's a Takata?
I assume so. I'm surprised that they appear on such a late model vehicle.

I see it's a non-alpha. Alphas are the most dangerous.
Mine were replaced when it had it's two year service last week.
Thank you for the heads up. So irritating that I cannot save nor open the xlxs file. I don't think IT is JLR's strong point. When I enter my VIN in the JLR tool, I get the message 'No entry found' so I guess I am not on the list.
Personally I don't think they are taking this seriously enough. The Takatas definitely fail and people get hurt. Surely protecting JLR drivers is a priority, not simply a 'nuisance'?
Hi Mamil
Thank you so much for the new attachment. All the xlxs files I downloaded could not be opened.
Thankfully my vehicle is not on the list - I guess too new.
Keep up the good work of helping enthusiasts.
