Recommendations - Suspension Lift Discovery Sport

I’m looking for someone Northside Brisbane who can fit suspension lift springs on my disco sport 2016, possibly someone that’s done it previously?

Seems that some of the usual Land Rover workshops Northside believe it’s to hard as they’ve never done it before, kind of surprising they’re knocking back a paid job! Won’t be calling them for anything in the future.

    Hi Webz,

I am in the process of looking at the same thing in the near future along with having the shocks rebuilt/ reconditioned (whilst everything is apart) so was looking to get a quote from W.W. Shock Absorbers at Virginia. Have not used them personally, however they appear to have in the most part positive reviews on the web (if you trust web reviews...).

Also, I have a copy of the workshop manual and I'd suggest it is not a particularly hard job for a workshop to undertake.

Hope this helps and please let me know how you get on.

    Cheers.

I'd be a bit concerned if they knocked it back. There has to be a good reason why.

    Fitting suspension lift springs

I had a quote from Fulcrum at Stafford in January 2017 for around $1,400 (including supply of Eibach springs and wheel alignment) and Pedders at Enoggera for $2,900 for the same + a Hayman Reese towbar in September this year so there's certainly places that will do it no worries. I ended up just going the towbar elsewhere.

Just my opinion and very much dependent on type of driving you've done and mileage but at almost 3 years old I think the shocks would be worth looking at too. There doesn't seem to be much out there aftermarket-wise is the catch.

You guys should take a look at this thread 19 inch Rims with AT Tyres and Spring Lift - Land Rover Discovery Sport Forum It's a US forum but Australian owners who've fitted larger tyres and done spring lifts.

From their experience seems the DS is particularly difficult to do a spring lift, and you should expect a whole day/8hours of labour.

Yeah it seems workshops northside must have to much work available, I contacted 8 shops and had nil reply’s. The couple I did get as well as 3 I called all said we either haven’t done such a job and wouldn’t want too or they didn’t want to fit others springs but can’t supply me their own springs either...what tha!?

I’ve also seen spacers having been used successfully with existing suspension. But I think I’d prefer springs.

Brad - fulcrums quote seems reasonable for supply and fit, be interested if they would quote again?

Mammil - been following that thread, thanks for that!

So for any workshops that would do this Northside i’d Suggest there’s a market for this work if someone does a good job and I guess would easily be able to look at wheels, tyres, springs and plate kits lots of interest from what I’ve seen!!!

    Hi Webz,

It is coming into Christmas so possibly they're only interested in doing work they're familiar with they know they can make money on? Disappointing though, you'd think any work is cash-flow.

Yes, I'd agree with springs rather than spacers for sure. Eibach usually make a really good product, have used their springs, valves etc on motorcycles in the past.

Re: Fulcrum, I can't see why not, the guy who provided me with the quote there was Peter Salisbury, I don't know him though.

I think you're onto something, there seems to be plenty of Aussie (and Queenslanders in particular) on online forums doing a few off-road oriented mods.

Also am in Brisbane and would be interested in seeing if we could get something out of trying to get a deal on two cars done, they should be more efficient after the first, after all. I was probably going to hold off until the new year (i.e. Jan/ Feb) though. How would that sit with your plans?

Terry had British Offroad fit Eilbach springs that give 30mm lift, see post #23 here:

    Thanks Scott.

Brad - I’d made duplicate calls to many including MR Autos and they were open to it this time, but mentioned 2 days and 6 week waiting list.

Fulcrum Stafford really put a bit of time in researching it but in the end said thanks but no thanks.

Many wouldn’t fit others products and the experience kind of left me thinking many with 4x4 workshops should really be laying concrete only as their service was garbage!

I called British Off Road and they were really helpful, Had done the jobs before and spoke with confidence but their location is difficult being the Sunny Coast. Pricing is ranging 650-1000 to fit depending on issues and quoted on an hourly basis but this quote was based on their previous experience and allowing 2 days to be safe.

I was intending to get them fitted next two weeks but work is taking me interstae and now probably won’t get done till Jan due to their location.

I’m getting some 18’s and will get BF KO2’s in the next two weeks so will see how that goes. For now.

    Webz,

Disappointing there seems like so much resistance to undertaking it.

British Off road might be the go then, particularly if they have experience. I know you wanted Northside but there is also Knights House of Rover at Bowen Hills if you wanted to try Land Rover specialists.

BF KO2's sound good, presume you're going 255/55r18's and not worrying about tyre lift?
