    ODB reader and Disco Sport

After reading over on the UK Disco Sport Forum about people using cheap Bluetooth ODB devices and free mobile phone Apps to monitor DPF regenerations I bought one and downloaded the software, only to find mine wouldn't read the all important codes of exhaust temperature, DPF pressure, and DPF regen status.
I also wanted to monitor transmission oil temp when towing my caravan, but this isn't available either.

It seems what values are available over the device depends on which year your Disco Sport is. MY17 and later seem to have more information available, but mine is MY2016 and only the basics are available.

Has anyone tried plugging an ODB reader into their DS, and were you able to access these values? If so what year is your car? Thanks.

OBD runs off ISO or CAN,,
After you find that, the OBD2 connector should be easy enough,,

Hi Pedro, sorry not getting your drift? I have the OBD2 unit, and it's plugged into the ODB port in the car, and communicating with the App on my phone via Bluetooth. Problem is only a limited number of engine values are available to me, not the larger range of values that are available to others using exactly the same ODB adapter and software. In particular I'm wanting to view exhaust temperature, transmission oil temperature, DPF pressure, and DPF regen status, but these don't seem to be available to me. So was just trying to find out if I'm doing something wrong?

EDIT: Someone just posted on the UK forum that pre-Pathfinder vehicles (MY17) don't have these values available to read with an ODB unit, so that may explain why some can access exhaust temperatures and DPF values but I can't, as mine is pre-pathfinder.

The cheap readers will only give you the basics. If you want the full capabilities you are going to have to spend a bit more.

I have 3 readers and they have much different functions.

My Launch basic a $170 can read engine, abs, srs and the tranny.

My Launch CRP Pro can do most everything @ $750

But to do everything I have a Launch X431 Pro but that one costs $1800 plus a yearly fee. This one does everything like DPF regen, key programming, EAS calibration, etc, and everything you could ever want on every car.

You can't expect much for a hundred bucks.

Each CAN conveys a certain amount of PIDS via OBD, I would imagine each year is different,,

The information on each CAN is available,,

Is yours not "seeing" all those?

if the later OBD2 modules are the same ae the early ones,, its a bit of a lottery if they work,,

    funnily enough,,
my new OBD2 module gives me EGR temp sensors ( on all 8!) ,, when I'd really like Fuel Trims....
