    Cool High Speed Wobble

    Hello All, Great forum......

I bought my first Land Rover 3 years ago from Trivett Land Rover, Parramatta for my wife.

She loves the car but recently we have been noticing a dynamic
instability whilst cornering on long sweeping corners, mainly to the left on the freeway at speeds of 80km/h or more. You can actually notice it slower on normal roads but not so pronounced.

I took it to our local JLR service centre in Brookvale and described the issue and it was out down to poor wheel alignment.

This didn't fix the issue and so back to JLR whereby they blamed the tyre pressure and and alignment and off again to no avail.

The third time back in a few months and the half shafts were replaced at what I would imagine would have been significant cost to them. Luckily it was just inside warranty....

    Again no resolve.

The car is dangerous at speeds on the highway so much so that my wife won't drive it anymore.

Currently it is back with JLR and has been for the last 3 days with no information forthwith.

Has anyone heard of this issue before in Australia? I noticed a few posts around on some forum sites but no answers.

How many kms has it done? The shocks could be worn-out enough to make the vehicle unstable. From my experience, LR service people think that shocks can be confirmed as being OK with a slow drive around the block.

Any suspension clunks including from the rear?

    Was the rear alignment checked?

What are your tyres like and what brand and style are they?

Could the instability be the tyres "tracking" on the road surface?

When we first bought our Freelander 2 it was fitted with Goodyear Wrangler's and they where terrible although they still had 50% tread left. Fitted new tyres and it made for a much better experience.

    Thanks for the replies,

The car has had a very privileged life so far, never being off road properly and not being flogged.

About 30k kms in 3 years and same tyres put on as were supplied with the car - Conti cross contact.

No issues with suspension/ shocks and not sure about rear alignment but having had them check the alignment twice, I would imagine it was checked.

They have had the car now for 4 days and no contact????

    Did you ever resolve this?

Mine has developed a shimmy at over 90 kph, and none of the usual things like tracking and wheel balancing have solved it. I've even had three of the tyres replaced because they were slightly out of round but still no solution, so I'd be real interested what yours turned out to be?

    High Speed Wobble

Hi, new to this Forum, my usual Forum is with Jaguar- Lovers on the early XK models having owned our XK150 S for 54 yrs.
My daughter has a Discovery Sport 2015 year model and cannot keep drive shafts in it at present so I am interested to know if you did receive a solution to your problem with 'Wobble', it sounds like a similar problem with her car.
Thanks for any information you can pass on.
    Regards to all

    Ledo
