I have as much insight regarding the replacement Defender as anyone else, i.e. none. The above post was just intended as a light hearted chapter in it's on going development. If you look at the model line up and their specifications on the Land Rover website you will get an indication as to the direction Land Rover wish to take the brand. Sorry I poked the bear and the hornets' nest. Time to put one's head down below the parapet I think.
Not at all mate, it's all good.
And of course there is a "New" Defender, it's just that JLR have done a superb job at keeping it secret.
I don't profess to have any idea of it,...just the normal "guesses" & snippets that come up,..."aluminium monocoque chassis, ingenium engines, 3 levels of specs, most advanced Defender ever, we realize Defender is an icon, the new Defender will ensure it remains so"....all that sort of stuff from JLR, which means absolutely nothing to me,....But there's no doubt it's coming, .....I believe design & specs are pretty well locked in, I believe they are testing the running gear in disguise NOW,.....all IMHO of course.
I also believe that when it is "finally" released, it will be an outstanding success, as all other recent JLR releases have been. Whether it appeals to me, or many on here I suppose, or any fans of the current Defender, is another matter I suppose, because the likes of us, Worldwide, were buying at most 15000 units per annum,...JLR will be looking to sell a lot more than that with the new model, and I'm confident that they will.
Pickles.

Just the old DC100 with a few Photoshop mods to the wrap around lights and extended body.
They obviously have as little idea as anyone as to the actual new design, but I suppose they have to fill their pages with something.

Like most LR fans I love and respect the old Deefer but for my taste and purposes always went with Discos. Now my wife has her little Evoque, and I've read everything about the New Discovery, I'm seriously thinking a Defender could be all the things I liked about the older Discos, and be our next family adventure vehicle.
So yeah, they'll absolutely lose some die hards but they'll pick up a lot more sales from both existing and new LR buyers...

I know someone that has seen the new Defender, it definitely exists.
A NDA prevents him telling me much but he did tell me that I'd like it a lot, and that it's comparable to G-Class. Plenty of military interest apparently, so while there might be some upmarket variants, I'm guessing there will be some far more practical/sensible ones as well, which fits with what JLR has been saying in recent times.
Ineos are the crew to watch IMO. They are getting set to build a no-nonsense go-anywhere 4X4 in the spirit of Defender and plan to sell it around the world. Claiming Defender pricing as well (not the post manufacture inflated prices).
