I seriously wonder if they will learn from the "current title fight" where 2 contenders have tried to take the lowlux crown and 1 has almost ( in reality it has) succeeded, where the other, although technically superior , has failed.
Currently the ranger is about 1:1 in the 4x4 segment with the Hilux, and if you throw in the almost same under the skin Mazda fugly x 50, its ahead.
Whereas the amarok was way behind(people just don't like the 2.0 engine in a 1 ton 4wd), below the triton and a few others. The Everest outsold the fortuner, but both where smashed by the playdough at almost 3:1.
So what LR need is a ute/dc/single cab to beat both Hilux and Ranga as well as a wagon derivative to beat playdough on both on/off-road performance, tow/engine/load capacity, reliability and price.

"The Defenders, when they come, there will be a whole family of them"

The company says model options will stretch from the “base car” to “very luxury” while the group’s special operations unit will work on a beefed up version to meet demand in Russian and China for an alternative to the Mercedes G 63 AMG

"A whole new generation of Defenders that will represent durability. They are coming. They are not that far away... our vision is massive."

It was officially announced that the all-new Land Rover Defender would use an aluminum architecture similar to the new Land Rover Discovery, Ranger Rover, and Range Rover Sport

Dr. Ralph Speth also confidently said that the new Defender will be an icon, no questions about it. He continued by saying that the architecture will contain a lot of elements that are different from other aluminum-based vehicles.

No matter what anyone says,it is the Japanese engineered,Thailand built, reputation for reliability, resale, whatever, etc.

Whether this can be justified,or not, everyone has their thoughts.

No vehicle is perfect in every way.

For LR to make anything that could be a threat to the Low lux, ranger,or whatever, would be remarkable.

Red face New Defender What I heard so far

Hi Fellas, I'm from the Disco 2 site but I am also interested in New Defer. What I have found out ( heard ) so far is it will be independent suspension, coil sprung at least for the serious off roader, not sure but a 9 speed auto with first 3 gears extra low so to be low range ( no transfer case ), do we need to travel in 4th in low range. I would be surprised if the diff locking is not electrical as we all know they will have heaps of electrical thingy's. Expect Ingenium engines both diesel and petrol but maybe V8???
19 inch tyres??. Expect solar sun roof same as DC100, keep info coming.

    Fun to speculate though.

It's almost like running a book on it - see who gets the closest when (or if) they ever release it.
