That's actually the first mention I've heard of a Defender Sport, so I'm keen to hear more about it.

Defender Sport? Aren't those two words antonyms?

Hopefully the pre-release pics are of the Sport and the real Defender is yet to surface.

Pre release pics are heavily camo'd and padded, we don't know what defender will look like. Sport will be down the track from memory, SVX defender would be very interesting, SVX disco 5 is now for sale, not long after normal disco 5 release.

Well if it is heavily padded, we know it will be even smaller than it looks!

    Tyres

The issue with tyres would be related to the various safety requirements such as the infamous "Moose Test" - high speed braking while swerving one way and then an opposite swerve while still playing with the brakes - a manoeuvre that only a race car driver can perform, which is really designed to roll over a tall vehicle. Hence the D4's 50 KMH maximum speed for high ride height mode. High profile tyres likely make meeting such requirements quite tough. Unless one can sidestep such safety tests - which light trucks in the USA have been able to avoid. Not so in Europe though I suspect ...

In this over regulated country we live in expect that within a few years regulators might revisit allowing any increase in tyre diameter at all from stock.

    Cheers

I’m not so sure. I think the bonnet is disguised, but I reckon most of the rest is just covered with camo. It looks pretty small so could be the Sport we’re seeing.

...The Disco Sport was released first before the full size Disco whale. Hopefully there’s a Defender bigger box on the way!

Roof if padded, doors are padded, bonnet is padded, study the photos online, its not hard to see..the doors look huge on 110 mule like lse rrc huge, rear not so much, but departure angle looks the goods

Notice the flat squarish window frames, then look below.

Bonnet clearly padded and held on by straps in other pics

    Roof is also very padded.
