If JLR were clever they would sell updates and map upgrades through an IID Tool like diagnostic device.

Yeah standard Puma shocks aren’t up to real bush work agreed. Mine lasted 5000km before I replaced them with Koni Raids. Most factory shocks are tuned for highway use. ..Mercedes should have known the same prior to their infamous canning trip!

The central question is: while Defender ‘won’t for everyone’ (a somewhat redundant statement given that it applies to all vehicles ever made), will it be for ANYONE other than the same market ALL other current Land Rover models are aimed at? ...Will it be just another lifestyle SUV? or will it be a real working 4x4? As I’ve said, there is a big difference.

I agree with Goingbush. I won’t be buying one if it’s a lifestyle SUV. I wouldn’t have bought either of my current Defenders if they were lifestyle SUV’s either. They simply wouldn’t cope with what I use them for year after year.

    110 then 90 ute maybe

Found out last week from a Rover person, and most of you probably already know, that 110 will be first then a bit later on a 90 like they did before, then hopefully a ute as well but no guarantee as yet- given we have seen a dual cab camo test car I think that will be a starter myself though. Apparently hinted to me much like a D4 car in fact, so some of you will be happy with that concept.

I had a mate that worked at Merc in the marketing/media department a few years ago. He did a trip down the Canning and ALL civilian G wagon shocks failed. Merc’s answer? Helicopter in the shocks that the Aus army fitted as standard to their Merc’s... Problem solved.

Actually, you might be surprised to learn that this is a reality already for the latest LR vehicles. It's called Software Over The Air or SOTA. Cars fitted with a SIM can do this directly or I think those with wifi can be connected via a hotspot.

This allows for updates to Maps, telemetrics, infotainment software etc. Not sure if this would be or is already extended to other ECUs in the vehicle. The benefits are obvious.

Makers like BMW do this as well. They actually have an "app store" where you can purchase add ons to enable additional features.

Tesla is another one that does this.
    Cheers,

    Sean

The mercs had stock shocks, Sachs from memory, no issues.
The puma had aftermarket, think OME, they died.

Our Mazda does that, as long as it is in range of our home Wi-Fi.

Interesting, Some of the mules could very well be dual cab in disguise.
