Blackrangie you have a RRC. You must be aware that a solid axle long travel LR will flog a D3 coiler when the going gets really hairy and a D2 with 4 channel traction control is better again. The Defender will not be a Humvee. It will be designed with cross linked air suspension doing a reasonable job of simulating the downward force that lives axles produce in spades. All well and good. But now take that away and you are left with a Pajero. Sorry mate but really that's just the way it is an no amount of excellent braking of wheels or even full lockers is going to see it better or even close to live axles with coils and electronic TC or air suspension IFS IRS with ETC. All that is true, still some people will no doubt want a coil defender for remote touring or remote work, not rockcrawling, I think their would be a lot of unhappy people if there wasn't the option.

If you compare the coil specs of the D5 to the air suspension specs, it would for sure be a tough call to pick the coil.

Happy to be proven wrong on release, but i don't think it affects anyone either way. If Landrover do provide a coil version it will also let people that couldn't afford the air version in at a lower price point.[emoji41]

D3 coilers are becoming popular for overlanders/tourers now.

For me its a no brainer, Air susp all the way.

We know there's going to be a wide range of engines, body styles and equipment levels. We also know they say it's going to be a whole family, not just a vehicle. There has even been talk of a Defender Sport.
So, I'm hoping for a range of vehicles from mid $50s up to maybe $100k.

I’m pretty sure it will have a cheaper coil option, same as the D5.

A coil spring Defender with independent suspension won’t have the same wheel travel or capability as EAS version, but will still suit many people who worry about EAS reliability.

A Currie anti-rock is very different to a factory anti-roll bar, think of it more like a trim tab.

While Rick is dredging the post!

Blackrange your youtube of Nolan’s has two faults
a/ its late in the season or low level and all but dry - nary a splash on the bonnet
    b/ vehicle has a snorkel

Nolan’s is known for being deep enough to watch the fish through the windscreen

900mm ain’t gonna cut it and I can see 4wdactionswertossers taking a stock OEM 2020 chcikadefender up in May and drowning it!

Bull bars and snorkels will be options available maybe in 2035!

    PS
Rick has forgotten more about anti roll bars and suspension tuning than every monkey wrench at every ARB, TJM and OppositeLock across Australia

If a sway setup is set to allow max safe articulation possible from shocks even from factory isn't that unrestricted articulation?

Cool, all but dry hmm..nearly every vid I've seen of nolans has been around that or just over bonnet, D5 as has already been discussed does well over 900mm infact 1m unofficially, defender looks higher again so I don't foresee any issues, maybe a snorkel will take that even further?

900mm ain't guna cut it? hang on, that's the deepest of any consumer production 4x4 from memory, that's also without a snorkel.
Apparently they caped at 900mm because it started to float or something, in reality it can go much higher.

79 wading is 700mm, ill take a new rover over a Toyota any day through those crossings.

Calling people or things offensive names doesn't help anyone and says much about ones side of the discussion [emoji8]

With defender in the states, aftermarket will go nuts, as will ARB. Anything that sells well is supported well.
