Series/County/Defender had 4, 5, 6 and 8 cylinder engines in both petrol and diesel in various capacities. Plenty of commercial vehicles have more than four pots and meagre capacity. 3.9ltr 4-cyl Isuzu, 3.9ltr V8, 2.5ltr 5-cyl, 2.6ltr 6-cyl F-head Defenders, etc. to name just a few. Then add in competitor product like LC79 and G-wagen that make those engine offerings look dinky and tame. From what's been revealed with high confidence this new vehicle will have 3, 4 and 6 cylinder drivelines running on petrol, diesel and with some electrons thrown into the mix as well. I think anyone expecting a V8 may be disappointed, but we can all hope. If they engineer it correctly it should be something they can chose to slot in later if desired/warranted. Modular platforms are like that, done properly.
