Not likely to “compete with Hilux” as McGovern famously said, if $90K

My guess is $79,990 base drive away to compete with Land Cruiser.

I think they will offer coil suspension in base level model, like with the D5.

Apparently everything from utilitarian to super luxury so no doubt prices will be to match..base more than last defender, less than d5 base?

I'm hoping they aim to match the prices of the Hilux and Ranger.

They could make a big seller if they do it right and have a wide spread. For eg one up from base with air suspension and 17's with bare bones everything for the right price...to compete with say price of a Ranger Wilktrac would be good. Cheers

Agreed. The next Defender could either make or break LR. It's as important as the first Discovery was in saving LR from bankruptcy.
If they get it right it could be a huge success, but if they screw it up, it could bankrupt the company.

Lets hope they haven't done any cost cutting to the new Defender project.
Maybe Hype but its also true, they are saying exactly what they are doing, nothing wrong with that.

Its well publicised and no secret that they aim to save 4.5b over 18 months, cutting a not really needed model allows them to spend what they intended on the defender without going broke with brexit and China sales slump.

As they said "'its resources and investment on the next generation of world class products."
    Pretty spot on imo.

To keep banging on about JLR Hype and ignore Toyotas seems a little strange to me, based on comments elsewhere regarding Toyota.

Examples of False advertising and hype at Yota:

Hype would be calling a Hilux unbreakable, when they break cvs and diffs as easy as most 4x4s.
    "HiLux Unbreakable"
Toyota HiLux | Single, Extra & Double Cab Utes | Toyota Australia

Or a 70 series snorkel a snorkel to assist in river crossings.
"the snorkel helps reduce the chance of water entering the engine when driving through water"
    "Still powerful, still indestructible"
LandCruiser 70 | Still Powerful, Still Indestructible | Toyota Australia

(Naughty Toyota) Won’t be retro...Won’t be retro...

JLR Hype, Toyota Hype (and false advertise), all marketers Hype.

I would say the super base utilitarian will or maybe shorty utilitarian, lets not forget once the parts are designed new Defender would be much less labour intensive than the old riveted body on chassis design. Robots will most likely build most of the car. Humans just for what Robots can't do.
