A LandCruiser has been a LandCruiser since the first one was revealed, LandCruiser has legitimate heritage.

The DEFENDER name does not. The Defender came about AFTER the Discovery was introduced in 1989
Any Landrover before 1989 , even a 110 County is not a Defender.

The other dickhead move they made was to name Discoveries Series 1 , 2 , 3 etc .
Its a real pain looking up proper LandRover Series 1,2 or 3 parts & Discovery crap keeps getting referenced.

Anyway I have no vested interest in this as I'll never be buying another JLR product as they have diverged so far diff track from anything I'll ever be wanting or needing.
    1. This forum is G Rated, using swear words to describe a company of thousands of people that largely do amazing work and given us all the cars we love, is also extremely offensive.(edit attached a photo of one of your friends at JLR) Yes you CAN use whatever language you want however from my understanding of the rules, not on AULRO. If the swear filter didn't pick it up, help the owners and remove it yourself, better yet articulate without swearing in the first place.

    2. Saying the defender doesn't have its heritage in series landrovers is beyond belief, its about the only car in history that hasn't changed its shape much in 70 years Won’t be retro.... I know you love your series and i respect that but, really?

    3. As for no vested interest, are you on record that you will never buy a new genuine part again?

Agree 100% but no I have never mastered the english language & am no wordsmith, Sure there are better ways to articulate but my brain does not work that way, 'Dickheads" fits so I'll use it

Ill let you take that one up with the mods Won’t be retro...

Cmon mate, forget the name, we all know the current defenders history and heritage is the series as much as Icecream goes in a cone.

Good luck with the genuine part thing, I'd last a month driving a classic Won’t be retro...

Land Rover Defender reborn thanks to Land Serwis | Auto Express

Here is also yet another option for those that feel the current defenders and older Series landrovers going back to the 40's are going to be sucked into a black hole when the new one arrives.

All defenders will live on and continue to be rebuilt, over and over again.

Not a problem, I can't actually remember the last time I bought a genuine part, I usually buy aftermarket or OEM which is the same as genuine without the LandRover box & pricetag.

I do remember the last time I bought a Genuine Landrover part over the counter from a Dealer, It was 1985 & I bought a pair of Ninety gal rear body corner cappings from ULR in Malvern .

Well done on that front if true, many genuine parts are superior for the classic, for example certain bushes, brake pads. Other genuine parts are the only ones available. Also if you buy secondhand genuine, its still genuine Won’t be retro...Won’t be retro...Won’t be retro...
