No thanks Guys I think that I will stick to my 79 series ute and my D2a for my off road and beach work because they don't pretend to be anything other than tough, highly capable and reliable off roaders and they are definitely Not "Show ponies" fitted with poncy racing wheels and tyres
You have seen the bushable 130" dual cab version yet? Have faith my friend. Won’t be retro...

Yeah i agree looks like a cross of a lot of things, i really dont think there is much to compare it to with the airbags, its kind of creating a new class.

Im sure you have seen the variety of profile tyres, wheels and brakes available to date as you've been following this thread, so they will intact be aiming for both ends of the market, just like the current defender, some people use it for a show pony in the city and lower it and add a full leather interior, others use it to crossing the desert.

1.2million ks of on/offroad testing all over the world plus being used as a WORKhorse in an African conservation park is aiming for the yuppy market? I dont think so.

They are going all out to prove this thing, imo more than any manufacturer has ever done.

That’s the new new Discovery 5 not a Defender.

There is no way that is a work or farm vehicle.

    Just another bland SUV.

    What a piece of crap.

Landrover has completely lost the plot.

Nobody will make accessories for that thing.
Agreed, its what the D5 should have been, would not touch it with a bar of soap.

Timeless design like the previous Defender, that is NOT !

The old defender clearly wasn't Timeless because it didn't sell in the 21st century Won’t be retro...

Nah, I agree with you with the current Fender it is a timeless design, lasted very well. And the good thing about Defenders being alloy is that they will always be around whether we can drive them on the road in the future is another thing.

I think yours is one of the few that will pass the any future emission tests Won’t be retro...

Yes & er, that is the easy answer to any old Defender owner that wants to continue driving the old dinosaur for ever, and a lot cheaper than buying a new vehicle, note any buyers of this new "D5 wannabe Defender" will also have to shell out for an EV conversion in the not too distant future. I would not even consider buying a new ICE vehicle, something I hope JLR has thunk hard about esp with regards to China being a market mostly lost to Electric (and USA going down that path rapidly).

MLA supports full EV, New defender is on this platform.

Hybrid was tested at moab and snow on vid.

Im guessing at launch a mild hybrid 6 inginium diesel will be avail in most parts of the world. Not sure on petrol ingenium 6 for AU due to our fuel and PPF.

But i am not loving the profile of the tyres, they look hopeless for any off road or remote touring work.

The rest looks fine, though if the spare wheel could go somewhere else i recon it would look even better.

    Maybe on the bonnet/

Agreed, however there have been multiple profiles spotted

With the spare I don't mind too much it being on the back and if the door is strong enough unlike the current Defender I will be happy, anyone that has ever had a swing away rwc on their daily driver or tourer that's not connected to the rear door like rijidij can attest to the fact that door mounting is the way to go. Normal Swingaways are a pain in the bum.

I would have been very disappointed if they put the spare underneath like the discovery 5.

Also notice the different types of brakes front and rear and between the two cars on the ice shot.
