And to those that think an Iveco Daily 4x4 is big , they are 2016 mm width but a damn site easier to park than an LC200 because of their better height / visibility .

If the LR2020 is over 2M wide it will cause havoc in Rose Bay / Vaucluse .

oh never mind , no problems

But yeah if it fits jam it in!

I’m not sure if the irony is lost on anyone (I doubt it)
But ALL the fanbois (on this thread) of this jigger are Rangiephiles and Discophiles
Which honestly is fine by me but hilarious none the less.

calling this thing a defender which is in no way agricultural or commercial or IMHO real is a farce! I guess though some would say a D5 is a commercial vehicle because some euro police force bought a few?

Now don’t get me wrong, heck one day I might even buy one - but less than 0% of me will think it was a defender. This whole shizzle is about nomenclature.

I reckon you've hit the nail on the head here. From what I've seen I'd agree that generally those coming from the 'luxury' end of the range are more excited and interested and less outraged than those coming from the 'basic/utilitarian' end of the range. Perspective Me? I'm ignoring the name itself and looking at what the new vehicle is and basing my thoughts on that. Mainly because I am in two minds about the name. Part of me thinks they should have retired it and started again with a new name (expensive and a long path) and part of me recognises that this vehicle takes that place in the range and it's OK to keep the name (cashing in on the heritage). Final decision may happen when the full specs and looks come out.

For tax reasons this equaled a small 4 pot

Now this hairdressers SUV may as well have a Bugatti W16
    It ain’t no commercial vehicle!

Series/County/Defender had 4, 5, 6 and 8 cylinder engines in both petrol and diesel in various capacities. Plenty of commercial vehicles have more than four pots and meagre capacity. 3.9ltr 4-cyl Isuzu, 3.9ltr V8, 2.5ltr 5-cyl, 2.6ltr 6-cyl F-head Defenders, etc. to name just a few. Then add in competitor product like LC79 and G-wagen that make those engine offerings look dinky and tame. From what's been revealed with high confidence this new vehicle will have 3, 4 and 6 cylinder drivelines running on petrol, diesel and with some electrons thrown into the mix as well. I think anyone expecting a V8 may be disappointed, but we can all hope. If they engineer it correctly it should be something they can chose to slot in later if desired/warranted. Modular platforms are like that, done properly.

First proper underbody shots guys, from a friendly cruiser enthusiast Won’t be retro...Won’t be retro...

    Huge exposed central recovery point

And spare spot for something else?

Big metal bash plates under front, 3 tanks for this model? Others just have exhaust at rear.

Everything seems tucked up really high

Diff and prop way up out of harms way.

    Sacrificial ribs under wishbones.

    Stainless exhaust?

A fuel tank is obviously at the back. I wonder what the large flat areas are on each side mid-wheelbase? They may be the front footwells but they could also be tanks or battery storage?

    oh bloody hell !!!!!!!

they are not sacrificial ribs...sacricifial to what BR?

the ribs are there to strengthen the lightweight alloy mouldings.

I think I've finally worked it out.....

Do you have or have you had any engineering experience Blackie?

The rear will most likely be for adblue (for diesel obviously).
